Hon Frank Mwesigye, a leading official inside Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s PLU, has castigated Soroti City West MP Calvin Echodu for siding with Gen Peter Elwelu at the time of great adversity between him and the CDF at whose instigation he got arrested and will soon be arraigned in the Court Martial.
In a long social media post, Mwesigye who Gen MK knows personally and often praises in his tweets, claimed that Echodu, who is also the NRM Vice Chairman for Eastern region having replaced Mike Mukula September last year, was now politically a very disgruntled man after narrowly missing out on being a Minister in Gen Museveni’s government.
The President had nominated Echodu for the slot of Minister of State in charge of International Affairs only for the same to become blunted after MPs refused to approve him on grounds of being a dual citizen of Uganda and the US at the same time. Mwesigye claimed that Echodu should be angry at his American wife who allegedly prevented him from denouncing his US citizenship as had been required of him in order to qualify for Cabinet inclusion.
Hon Frank Mwesigye, who these days is privy to a lot of intelligence information by virtue of his proximity to Uganda’s next President, asserted that Echodu was nervous following Elwelu’s arrest because he allegedly is among the caged former Deputy CDF’s funders in his alleged subversive activities.
In the same X post, which touched off a lot of debate in the comments section, Frank Mwesigye asserted that besides Echodu, there are four other powerful political leaders from Teso who are being investigated for funding Elwelu’s alleged treasonous activities.
Echodu is just the latest Museveni Minister to face Fred Mwesigye’s wrath as earlier casualties included the Presidency Minister Milly Babalanda who he previously went after and destroyed on X controversially accusing her of constraining RDCs from embracing the countrywide collection of MK endorsement signatures as people in the PLU universe prepare to usher the President’s son into the Presidency come 2031.
Instead of being intimidated, Babalanda has since drawn a line in the sand making it clear that criminalizing those committed to supporting Gen Museveni’s continued Presidency over Uganda won’t be tolerated. She wrote a controversial opinion piece in the New Vision vowing to go down fighting as opposed to accepting to be cowed by PLU operatives like Frank Mwesigye.
