If you want to know why this is URA boss Dorris Akol’s best season of multiple blessings and plentiful harvesting, just read this. Only last month, she was recognized as one of African continent’s best female CEOs of the year. As friends were still congratulating her upon that feat, Akol’s supervisors at the finance ministry created more happiness by endorsing her for reappointment as Commissioner General for Uganda Revenue Authority (URA). According to reliable sources, Finance Minister Matia Kasaijja who is her immediate supervisor recently recommended to the President to renew Akol’s four year contract as head at URA. Kasaijja has since defended his decision in an interview with Daily Monitor saying that, given her extraordinary performance, Akol deserves 2nd term at Nakawa. The board too is understood to have acquiesced to Kasaijja’s wish on grounds that Akol has performed extremely well given the economic circumstances of the day. Should the president concur with Kasaijja’s recommendation (as he will most likely do), Akol will have the opportunity to continue serving her country as chief tax collector up to 2022. Her current four year contract (2014-2018) has just one more month to go. It’s widely expected that by that time, the big man from Rwakitura will have done the needful to ensure there is no leadership vacuum even for one day at the Nakawa-based tax body.

MOTHERS TWINS;
As the URA fraternity and other stakeholders continued to reflect on Kasaijja’s exciting recommendation and endorsement for Akol’s retention, the CG gave them even more reason to be joyful. Over the weekend, the flamboyant woman from Karamoja sub region delivered twins at Nakasero hospital, something that must have given her spouse (Sam) more reason to thank God for the day they concurred to become husband and wife. The well-off couple have their home in the Namugongo neighborhood of Mbalwa from where God had so far blessed them with one son aged about 6 years. Sam lives and works abroad some times. The twins Akol delivered over the weekend are both boys and if they were to be from Bantu speaking communities, that would have qualified them to be named Wasswa/Kakuru and Kato. As per now, Akol continues to be away on maternity leave, an offer to which every mother is entitled when appropriate circumstances arise. The successful delivery of twins entitles the amiable URA boss to be called Nalongo (of course not the Stella Nyanzi type) Dorris Akol. We congratulate the Akol couple upon this new accomplishment.
