In a bold and hands-on move, Dr. Eng. Silver Mugisha, Managing Director of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), has launched an extensive tour of the corporation’s operational areas, putting customers’ needs at the center of his mission. His tour, which was published on NWSC’s official X page at the beginning of February, emphasized that no one should remain comfortably in the office while customers are without service, and that all efforts should focus on delighting NWSC’s clients.
The tour is a clear demonstration of NWSC’s commitment to providing water and sanitation for all, driven by the belief that a delighted customer starts with a delighted workforce.
Eng. Mugisha personally visited towns including Mbale, Manafwa, Kapchorwa, Tororo, Busia, Bugiri, Jinja, Iganga, Kamuli, and Lugazi, engaging directly with customers and staff alike. The MD recorded feedback from communities, inspected customer service standards, reviewed ongoing water supply improvement projects, and discussed planned infrastructure initiatives.
During these visits, staff welfare was also a priority. Eng. Mugisha held candid discussions with employees about challenges and areas where service delivery could be enhanced. He highlighted that motivated staff are essential for delivering excellent service to customers.
Unlike traditional executive inspections, Eng. Mugisha’s approach is hands-on. He actively interacts with both front-line staff and local residents, identifying service gaps on the spot and discussing practical solutions. This approach has already energized staff and reassured communities that their voices are being heard.
Residents in the visited towns have expressed optimism and appreciation, noting that such direct attention from the highest level of NWSC leadership is rare and encouraging.
Through this tour, NWSC is sending a strong message: water and sanitation are essential rights, and the corporation is determined to make service delivery efficient, responsive, and inclusive for every Ugandan.
