Ugandan women’s empowerment advocate Dr Aisha Ruth Kasolo Biyinzika has urged women to prioritize financial independence, warning that having personal money is a powerful shield against uncertainty and dependence.
In a bold message shared online, Dr Kasolo encouraged women to make sure they always have money they can control without having to explain or justify how it will be used. Her message highlights a reality many women face in relationships where financial decisions are often dominated by their partners.
According to her advice, very few men freely hand over money to women without asking detailed questions about how it will be spent. Because of this, she believes women should work towards building their own financial security so they can handle responsibilities and emergencies without pressure or hesitation.
Dr Kasolo stressed that financial independence does not mean conflict in relationships. Instead, she said it strengthens a woman’s confidence and ability to make responsible decisions for herself and those who depend on her.
She pointed out that unexpected needs often arise in families. A woman may need to support her mother, help her children, or respond to sudden challenges that require quick financial decisions. Without personal money, she warned, such situations can become stressful and difficult.
Her message encourages women in every situation, whether married, single, employed or running businesses, to find ways of creating their own financial safety net. Even small savings, she suggested, can make a major difference when emergencies arise.
Dr Kasolo also highlighted that a financially prepared woman becomes more confident in the choices she makes. With resources of her own, she is able to act quickly and responsibly without constantly seeking approval.
The advocate believes that women who secure their finances are better positioned to support their families, make wise decisions and face life’s uncertainties with strength.
Her message has sparked discussion among followers online, with many praising the call for women to strengthen their financial independence while continuing to play their vital roles within families and communities.
For many listeners, the takeaway is clear: a woman with financial security stands stronger, acts with confidence and is better prepared for the unexpected challenges life may bring.
