The 5th edition of the Equity Bank Uganda–NARO Golf Open once again lived up to its billing as one of the country’s most competitive and well-organized amateur golf tournaments, with Dominic Musoke delivering a composed performance to take the November 27-29th, 2025 title at Namulonge.
Musoke carded an overall 2-under 208 to lift the trophy in a championship that Equity Bank has continued to elevate into a key milestone on the country’s golfing calendar. His win came after a steady three-round display that included 14 birdies, six bogeys and two double bogeys. He opened with a strong 2-under 68 before returning back-to-back level-par 70s to secure his second Equity NARO Open title.
He beat this year’s season stand-out, Joseph Chinyaai, by five (5) strokes. Chinyaai arrived in Namulonge riding high after eight major wins this year, including the Kakira Open, Kinyara, Uganda Open, Uganda Ladies Open, Presidents Cup and the Entebbe Open. But even his red-hot form couldn’t stop Musoke from taking the prestigious Equity crown.
Namulonge’s own Charles Jjunju finished third, while Juma Abiti took fourth place. Defending champion Abdullah Kakooza, one of the biggest stories from last year’s Equity-backed event, finished fifth, 13 strokes behind the victor.
In the ladies’ category, the tournament delivered yet another Equity-style headline with Meron Kyomugisha dominating the field from start to finish. Fresh from winning the Kinyara Open, Kyomugisha carded 221 to claim the women’s crown, beating Joyce Kisembo (238) by an emphatic 17 strokes. Resty Nalutaaya finished third on 241, with Peace Kabasweka fourth on 242.
This year’s tournament once again highlighted Equity Bank’s growing footprint in local sports development. Through consistent sponsorship, improved organisation, and deliberate support to amateur golfers, Equity has positioned the NARO Golf Open as an event that not only showcases talent but also feeds into global ranking structures.
The championship remains an accredited Amateur World Golf Ranking (WAGR) event.
With each edition, the Bank is reinforcing its commitment to nurturing sports excellence and expanding opportunities for Ugandan golfers to shine on both local and international stages.(For comments on this story, get back to us on 0705579994 [WhatsApp line], 0779411734 & 041 4674611 or email us at mulengeranews@gmail.com).
