Bobi Wine Deploys Walukagga To Lead Effort to Explain and Popularize NUP Manifesto
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

By Mulengera Reporters

Recently while launching his NUP party manifesto for 2026 at Kavule, Bobi Wine instigated Kadongo Kamu singer Mathias Walukagga to come up with a mega political hit song summarizing, breaking down and popularizing the party’s campaign promises-highlighting the New Uganda they intend to usher in.

Within just days, Walukagga (who is eternally grateful over Bobi Wine’s readiness to make him Busiro East MP in the place of seasoned lawyer Medard Segona) has been able to churn out a hit that is heavily loaded with political messaging.

In the song, Mathias Walukagga personally goes after his namesake Mathias Mpuuga while referring to the Shs500m that Parliament gave him and NUP officially says was an act of corruption. Walukagga also says he has a duty to attack and demonize Mathias Mpuugi, his namesake, because his public criticism of the party’s decision to give him the Busiro East flag against Segona amounted to declaration of war on him.

Saying he has a right to defend himself against such attack, Walukagga promises to release another political song dedicated to total destruction of Mpuuga who is seeking reelection for 4th term as Nyendo-Mukungwe MP.

In the same song, Walukagga challenges Mathias Mpuuga, Medard Segona and other senior politicians celebrated for their intellectualism to show Ugandan voters the impact the nice suits they wear and flawless English they speak, have had for the struggle to make Uganda a better-governed country. He says they have spoken English for decades yet Museveni has only grown stronger.

In contrast, he says less educated Kadongo Kamu singers (his predecessors like Hermany Basudde etc who he faults Mpuuga for despising) have continued being more impactful even in death because comedians ride on their music to come up with popular skits from which they eke a living to support their children. That what Uganda needs now is action-oriented leadership, the type he intends to usher in for Busiro East, and not flawless English speakers and wearers of nice ties and suits.

In the same song, Walukagga also elaborately breaks down and summarizes the key promises in the Kyagulanyi manifesto pledging a New Uganda. He calls on Ugandans who want to lead better lives synonymous with unrestricted political freedoms and fairer taxation policies to associate themselves with the New Uganda and work hard towards its realization through the January general elections.

The song is in Luganda which is the only language in which Walukagga can effectively express himself and people on social media, having liked the beat and everything else about the song, have demanded that he produces an English version which can be replicated in other Ugandan languages so that the message for change can be spread, received and heard in all corners of Uganda, as opposed to just targeting the Central region which Kyagulanyi considers to be already liberated.

On his part, Bobi Wine is so elated about the song and the urgency with which Walukagga acted and is calling on all change-seeking Ugandans to equally share the song to ensure the message reaches all corners of Uganda. He says the song is indicative of the immense talent the incoming Busiro East Legislator has, to effectively communicate political punches against the regime in power.

He says this talent is vastly required at this stage of the anti-Museveni struggle. Kyagulanyi is very grateful for having Walukagga (he is already calling him honorable) among his comrades in the struggle.  And to his credit, Walukagga admits that there might be imperfections in his song and calls on those listening to it to pardon him where they realize he ought to have done better.

A cheerful Kyagulanyi has posted the hit on his socials and tasked millions of his supporters to amplify the message by widely sharing Walukagga’s video and audio of the song. Kyagulanyi doesn’t seem to regret anything in the song, not even the very controversial and unprovoked attacks directed at Mathias Mpuuga, the founding Deputy President for NUP.
