As East Africa accelerates the digital transformation of logistics and trade, secure and reliable integration between digital platforms and customs systems is becoming increasingly important.
Developed in collaboration with the Uganda Cargo Consolidators Association (UCCA) and TradeMark Africa (TMA), BeezyLCL is a digital less-than-container-load (LCL) cargo platform designed to streamline cargo processes, enhance coordination among trade stakeholders and support more efficient cross-border commerce.
The platform prioritises integration with relevant customs systems, including the Uganda Revenue Authority’s (URA) Customs Clearing Interface (CCI) and ASYCUDA World, to support more seamless and efficient trade operations.
At the centre of BeezyLCL’s technical architecture is an Integration Hub that separates the platform’s core business processes from external application programming interfaces (APIs), providing a structured layer for secure and controlled data exchange with connected systems. This approach reduces direct dependencies on external interfaces while strengthening system security, reliability and interoperability.
By streamlining connectivity across cargo consolidation and customs-related processes, the Integration Hub supports improved coordination among consolidators, clearing agents, traders and other logistics stakeholders, while laying the foundation for greater operational visibility, more efficient information sharing and fewer information gaps across the supply chain.
BeezyLCL’s architecture supports secure and manageable data exchange by separating core platform functions from external interfaces. Its effectiveness depends on robust access controls, authentication, encryption, monitoring and compliance with applicable data protection requirements.
As BeezyLCL continues to develop, secure interoperability will remain an important consideration in supporting its wider objective of improving cargo coordination and facilitating trade. The platform reflects the role of digital innovation in connecting trade processes, strengthening logistics coordination and contributing to a more efficient and competitive regional trade ecosystem.
