KAMPALA – Kampala Central Division Mayor, Salim Uhuru Saad, has commended the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) for embracing technology in its mobilization agenda, following the official launch of the movement’s Digital Platform and Patriotic Officers’ Identity Cards.
The launch, held today at the PLU Secretariat in Kampala, marks a major milestone in PLU’s quest to build a structured, modern and digitally-driven patriotic movement.
Mayor Salim Uhuru, who also doubles as the Kampala Central District NRM Chairman and a member of the NRM Central Executive Committee (C.E.C), was among the high-profile guests who graced the colorful ceremony.
Speaking at the event, the Mayor congratulated the PLU leadership under Secretary General Hon. Fadil for the visionary initiative, noting that issuance of official IDs and a centralized digital system will enhance coordination, discipline and identity among PLU cadres across the country.
“This is a commendable milestone. Organizing the youth through a verified digital platform and official identification is the way to go. It shows seriousness, order and commitment to the patriotic cause,” Mayor Uhuru said.
He added that such innovations will not only curb impersonation but also ease mobilization of young people who are passionate about Uganda’s development.
The Mayor wished the entire PLU fraternity success, reaffirming the spirit of unity that continues to bind the NRM family and its allied youth movements.
“TUKO PAMOJA – we are together in building Uganda,” he emphasized.
The newly launched platform is expected to serve as a one-stop hub for PLU membership registration, communication and coordination of activities countrywide, while the Patriotic Officers’ IDs will give legitimacy to its field officers.
The PLU, chaired by Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has in recent months intensified grassroots mobilization, attracting thousands of youth with its message of patriotism, service and continuity.
