Kasambya County MP David Kabanda, who is also the Executive Assistant to Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba in his capacity as the PLU Principal, says that even when he is 100% innocent, former Speaker Anita Among has been telling people how he is the bad man who fermented political problems that resulted into her Speakership tenure being brought to a dramatic end at the time her 2nd term looked to be a foregone conclusion.
In a YouTube video interview with JB Kisitu of the Direct Shot, Kabanda said he has tried his best to remain complementary towards the former Speaker but remains appalled by the fact that Anita Among keeps talking ill of him in conversations with other people. He said for the period she had been confined to her Nakasero house, he and others have occasionally weighed in to help and facilitate her to continue accessing medical treatment while battling frail health.
Kabanda said that even Gen MK, who many think is the man who ferried Anita Among and subjected her to very deflating and humiliating house searches, was just acting on the orders of the President, who he says kept being consulted at every turn. Kabanda observed that its ironical to see that Anita Among keeps telling people that Gen Museveni never had any problem with her and that all her woes emanated from Gen MK who was incited by false reports, tendered by him (Kabanda).
The Kasambya County MP said he would be more than ready to once again work with Anita Among should she get deployed into a capacity where he will have to work under her supervision. He said this is proof he has no vendetta against her. Kabanda prayed that Anita Among one day realizes the truth and stops going around telling people how Gen MK became hostile to her political stardom after being duped by his (Kabanda’s) own report indicating that she wanted to be President and was plotting and determined to become one-coming after Gen YK Museveni. Kabanda said this is all untrue.
He also accused Anita Among of being very contradictory in what she has been telling people about him. “She had been telling people how those soldiers at her home were deployed by the President to protect her against some [PLU] people wanting to harm her after I lied to them that she wants to be the next President yet in the end, it ended up being established that she was all along under house arrest. The two are not complementary statements. They actually contradict one another. One of them is true and the pother is a lie,” said Kabanda making it clear he wasn’t regretting anything in the role he played towards propping up Oboth-Oboth as the new Speaker for the 12th Parliament.
He said it’s up to the President to once again give Anita Among another powerful role to play either inside the NRM party or government. He said there is nothing he or any other PLU leader can do to stop that should the big man from Rwakitura feel like taking that direction.
