The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) is building momentum ahead of the Uganda Film Festival (UFF) 2026 Awards Gala, with the ongoing festival showcasing the creativity, talent and powerful stories shaping Uganda’s film industry.
Last night, festival audiences gathered for a compelling screening of Maama Wange, a film presented by Reach A Hand Uganda that goes beyond entertainment to highlight the struggles, resilience and lived realities of young mothers.
The screening also demonstrated how Ugandan cinema can connect storytelling with meaningful social impact. Through the Maama Kit Donation Drive, every ticket contributes to providing essential birthing supplies to mothers who need them most, turning audience participation into tangible support for communities.
Organised by UCC, the Uganda Film Festival runs from 21st to 28th August 2026, bringing together filmmakers, creatives, industry professionals and audiences to celebrate the country’s growing film industry.
The festival features captivating film screenings, workshops and industry forums designed to create opportunities for learning, networking and collaboration among players in Uganda’s creative sector.
As the festival approaches its climax, attention now turns to the UFF 2026 Awards Gala on 28th August, when outstanding talent, creativity and achievements in Ugandan cinema will be recognised and celebrated.
Through the festival, UCC continues to provide a platform for Ugandan filmmakers to showcase their work, reach wider audiences and contribute to the growth of the creative economy.
