Here’s Why NRM MP Seats Winners Should Welcome Election Petitions Against Them

Even when the public opinion and the political barometer is conspicuously reading differently, it was officially communicated to the President that his ruling NRM party is organically back and that the people of Buganda have once again opened their hearts to the bus.
This depiction was portrayed to the President with evidence being more NRMs winning their MP races while defeating their NUP-sponsored opponents. Though he overall lost to Robert Kyagulanyi, the veteran leader from Rwakitura was officially portrayed to have attempted a significant comeback in Buganda with EC official figures showing that 48% of the voters who participated, voted for him.
However, the NRM’s opponents insist that the EC-declared NRM victories in many Buganda constituencies resulted from electoral engineering and vote rigging. Many of them say they have their DR forms, gumite, indicating something different and they are ready to corroborate their claims through a formal platform called the High Court where many election petitions have since been filed.
Yet instead of being excited about this being the opportunity to authenticate their wins, some of the NRMs have resorted to becoming panicky and many of them have already lost weight while having sleepless nights.
Some have resorted to going into hiding to prevent their pursuers from NUP from being able to effectively serve Court papers on them yet this is the only way to bring it to the challenged victor’s attention that their win has been challenged and are therefore required to file their defense in the same Court within 10 days.
Some of those who have resorted to going underground and becoming incognito to circumvent and avoid being effectively served Court papers include Mawokota North’s Amelia Kyambadde, Masaka City’s Justin Nameere and Kawempe South’s Madina Nsereko.
Madina, who is the first NRM to win the Kawempe South MP seat in more than 20 years, has gone as far as lodging curious complaints at Police claiming that all her DR forms were stolen and therefore doesn’t have any.
This ostensibly will help her indicate in her affidavit in reply that she doesn’t have any DR forms copies to be able to compare with Fred Nyanzi’s authentic ones as the electoral petition is being inquired into by Court, which will have to be an open process conducted in full glare of media cameras.
The right position that must, ordinarily, prevail is that the trio of Kyambadde, Madina Nsereko and Nameere should be celebratory about the respective electoral petitions because this gives them a platform and golden opportunity to defend their victories while transparently demonstrating in broad day light how they won free and square. There is no better way for whoever is convinced they won, to defend their victory, than through an open Court process.
Yet its not only the three NRM ladies that are having phobia arising from election petitions. NUP’s own Kasirye Nganda Mulyanyama (who polled 17,700 votes) is equally sweating plasma after Judith Abaho Nuwabeine (who polled 15,522), the NRM candidate who he defeated, vowing to politically exhaust him. She has filed a petition challenging his qualifications and suitability to represent the people of Makindye East.
Abaho, whose petition stands high chances of success, has separately lodged a complaint at Police accusing the NUP deal-maker of unleashing crude violence on court process servers who stormed his office and place of abode in a bid to serve him Court papers in a bid to notify him about her petition.
