By Mulengera Reporters

A few weeks ago, President Museveni convened a meeting at Masaka State Lodge where he met stakeholders in a bid to understand the extent of truth in claims that the circumstances under which NUP’s Rose Nalubowa’s victory as Masaka City Woman MP was overturned in favor of Nameere Justine, was fraudulent.

Museveni, who famously waged a five-year bush war against alleged vote rigging by the UPCs (1981-1986), is sensitive and wouldn’t like to lead a party which has a reputation of leveraging state machinery to impose its cadres on the people.

After the Masaka engagement, during which NRM leaders like Buregyeya disputed Nameere’s victory, Museveni established that several of his other cadres in especially Buganda were declared victors under equally curious circumstances and much as UCC blocked media outlets from publicizing such reporting, the President rightly knew that the same will ultimately come out through evidence-giving sessions in the High Court once his disputed cadres were dragged to Court via electoral petitions.

To avoid being surprised by such scandalous media reporting which the UCC won’t be able to prevent once the election petitions’ hearing sessions commence, the President instigated his investigators from the Gen Henry Isoke-led State House anti-Corruption Unit to get for him some intel on what exactly happened. How exactly did his cadre manage to overcome strong opponents from NUP in especially the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area districts of Kampala, Wakiso, Mpigi, Greater Luwero, Mityana and partly Greater Mukono?

The investigators indeed carried out the work and did interview some of the polling agents who represented the losing NUP candidates and encouraged them to freely speak out regarding what they saw. This happened in the case of agents of Hilderman Kiyaga who was sacrificed in favor of Amelia Kyambadde, Martin Sejjemba who was sacrificed in favor of NRM’s Susan Nakawuki, Fred Nyanzi who was sacrificed in favor of Madina Nsereko and Alex Waisswa Mufumbiro who allegedly was sacrificed to the advantage of Fred Ruhindi and others.

The President had also come under pressure from Haji Moses Kigongo who demanded to know why the state machinery, which aided Madina Nsereko to prevail against Fred Nyanzi in Kawempe South, wasn’t equally used to get his daughter Farida Nambi floor her NUP opponent Erias Nalukoola Luyimbazi.

Reliable sources reveal that a report was compiled and tendered to the President who keenly will be following the processing of election petitions which the NUP adversaries have filed in the Courts against his cadres who benefited from controversial results declarations. Knowledgeable sources say that the evidence against many of these NRM winners is so overwhelming, many of them will need divine intervention to escape nullification. In fact, because they know what happened, this is why a good number of them are playing hide and seek and trying hard to hide to avoid being served court papers.

In the case of Kawempe South, Fred Nyanzi has lined up hundreds of witnesses whose affidavits have been attached to his petition. These will orally be collaborated by his witnesses who instructively include ex-Makerere guild president Roy Semboga who was in the race as a NUP-leaning independent.

In the case of David Lewis Rubongoya who (as corroborated by NRM cadre Susan Kushaba) says was cheated for Kampala Central MP slot, hundreds of affidavits have been deponed and hundreds of witnesses are ready to orally undress Minsa Kabanda-and many of these are fellow NRM cadres who say the Rubongoya win was hijacked in broad day light.

All said and done, the sort of evidence that has been lined up against some of these senior cadres is so overwhelming that even cadre judges won’t be able to easily aid them to circumvent the impending political disaster. They are already enduring public hostility, as was demonstrated by the Masaka bishop during his Easter homily, and there is simply no way any leader can be effective while serving people who are full of resentment.
