A potential water crisis at the home of a popular Ugandan TV journalist turned into a story of praise and gratitude after a quick response from the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC).
Renowned NBS TV journalist Canary Mugume took to social media to celebrate National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), even jokingly awarding it the title of the “most efficient government agency for 2026.”
The drama began when ongoing road construction accidentally blocked water pipes supplying Mugume’s home. With taps running dry, frustration seemed inevitable. But help arrived almost instantly.
According to Mugume, an NWSC staff member identified as Jon Fisher stepped in and fixed the problem in record time.
“Ongoing road works had blocked pipes that bring water to my house,” Mugume shared. “But waterman Jon Fisher came to my rescue, and it was fixed in no minute.”
The post quickly caught attention online, sparking praise for the corporation and its frontline workers.
Fisher responded with humility, thanking the journalist for the recognition and emphasizing that customer satisfaction is at the heart of NWSC’s mission.
“Thank you for the kind feedback,” he wrote. “At NWSC, customer delight and memorable customer user experience are at the heart of our operations. Please always reach out… we are happy to help.”
But the praise did not stop there.
Fellow NBS TV journalist Mildred Tuhaise jumped into the conversation with a mix of humor and admiration. In a playful comment, she teased Mugume for having a direct contact — jokingly saying he had a “Gamba noogu,” a Luganda phrase loosely referring to someone with a reliable inside connection.
Still, Tuhaise made it clear that Fisher’s reputation for dedication is well known.
“Truth be told, John Fisher is exceptionally committed to his work,” she wrote. “He picks up the call and the next minute says, ‘This will be resolved in a few.’ NWSC is lucky to have you.”
The exchange has since sparked a wave of positive reactions online, with many Ugandans praising the quick service and calling for more recognition of hardworking public servants who quietly keep essential services running every day.
