Kiboko Squad founder Juma Semakula (aka Back Fire) is toothless as we speak right now following an ambush that he says was laid for him by the members of the Kifesi criminal gang who thoroughly waylaid, thumped and left him for dead. The much dreaded Back Fire, who founded and led the Kiboko Squad group that first emerged from CPS in 2007 to beat up citizens who were demonstrating to protest the proposed Mabira forest give away, was a few days ago waylaid by the Kifesi boys very early in the morning near Bat Valley Primary School as he went about his routine morning jogging sessions. He says it was between 5am and 6am when guys driving an old Corona car abruptly stopped and signaled him to come near to where they had parked. He innocently reached out thinking these are travelers who had innocently encountered a problem and needed his assistance. “Instead a group of Kifesi boys emerged from the Corona and started violently thumping me. One of them had a gun and pushed it inside my mouth as the other ones beat me up badly. I tried to put up a fight but the guys were too many for me. I was subdued and beaten until I couldn’t cry anymore. And by the time the guy removed his pistol from my mouth I was already bleeding and realized much later on that my teeth had been removed and I was in severe pain. I regained my consciousness when I was in the hospital and I don’t even know how I got there,” says Semakula who commanded many Kiboko Squad operations cracking up innocent civilians’ skulls including the young Kabaka supporters who participated in Kayunga riots. In the runner up to the 2011 elections, a group of political parties came together under the IPC and organized numerous demonstrations calling for electoral reforms while demanding the removal of Eng Badru Kiggundu as the EC Chairman. Many street demonstrations were attempted to show displeasure including one in Katwe near Clock Tower where Juma Semakula personally assaulted JEMA’s Omar Kalinge Nyago; nearly undressing him in a manner that left him terribly humiliated before his spouses and children since the incidence was broadcast on TV. However, Juma Semakula aka Back Fire is now remorseful because of the way the Museveni NRM system, whose interests he served, has ignored him. He says he is still in a lot of pain and has a lot of medical bills to pay yet he hasn’t gotten any help at all from the ruling party. Claiming that the guys who assaulted him at Bat Valley where highly connected agents working for some powerful people in the system, Back Fire is on bended knees begging Museveni to grant him audience and an appointment for a meeting during which he intends to report to him guys who are sabotaging the Museveni regime or government from within. Back Fire is resentful of the fact that instead of connecting him to Museveni so that he gives him something for his medication and survival, many of the NRM heavy weights have just turned their back on him. He says life is so hard yet he has family members to look after. He says his continued destitution will demoralize many young people never to volunteer to serve NRM in any situation “because I have been the role model they have been looking at for inspiration.” What makes Juma Semakula even more disturbed is the fact that its unlikely police will ever arrest any of the guys suspected to be behind this attack that was occasioned on him.
