Residents in Kyebando, parts of Bukoto, Kamwokya, Kyamuka, and neighboring areas are grappling with water shortages and low-pressure supply following an emergency fault reported in Bukoto, near Kampala International School Uganda (KISU).
The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) apologized to affected residents, stating that a dedicated team of engineers is already on site to address the issue as quickly as possible. The utility noted that it regrets the inconvenience caused to customers and is working round-the-clock to restore normal water supply.
The disruption has left households struggling to access sufficient water for daily use, while businesses, particularly those reliant on constant water supply, have reported operational challenges. Many residents have been forced to queue at communal water points or purchase water from private vendors.
NWSC indicated that the emergency fault was unexpected and warned that some areas may continue to experience intermittent water supply or low pressure while repairs are ongoing. The utility also urged residents to use available water sparingly during the restoration period.
This incident highlights ongoing challenges in maintaining Kampala’s water distribution network, as infrastructure vulnerabilities, high demand, and occasional maintenance needs have historically contributed to localized disruptions. NWSC reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a resilient and reliable supply while minimizing the impact of such emergencies.
Officials assured residents that repair teams are prioritizing the affected zones to restore full functionality in the shortest time possible and advised households to make alternative water arrangements until the fault is fully resolved.
