In a significant gesture of interfaith dialogue and cooperation, Speaker of Parliament Anita Among paid a courtesy call on His Royal Highness Dr. Kassim Nakibinge Kakungulu, the Titular Head of the Muslim Community in Uganda, at his office in Kampala yesterday afternoon.
The meeting, which was marked by warmth and mutual respect, provided an opportunity for Speaker Among to brief Dr. Nakibinge on key legislation and policy measures that the Parliament of Uganda has considered to support the Muslim community.
Among highlighted the Parliament’s commitment to promoting the welfare and interests of all Ugandans, regardless of their faith or background. She expressed her appreciation for the guidance and support that Dr. Nakibinge and the Muslim leadership have extended to legislators in the execution of their duties.
Dr. Nakibinge welcomed Speaker Among and thanked her for the updates on parliamentary business affecting the Muslim community. He pledged the community’s continued support for the government’s development agenda and the work of Parliament.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Parliamentary Service and the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council.
This courtesy call underscores Speaker Among’s efforts to engage with various stakeholders and promote interfaith understanding and cooperation in Uganda.
