Jacob Oboth-Oboth is the Budaama County MP in Bukedi sub region’s Tororo district and this has been his job for the last 15 years, counting from 2011 when he ceased being a State Attorney under the Ministry of Justice. He is also the Minister for Defense currently, a position he says he was sure of losing had Bobi Wine, the NUP Candidate, succeeded in becoming the President of Uganda on Thursday 15th January.
During a Saturday public rally at Kiboga Ssaza grounds where Gen Salim Saleh’s daughter Desire Muhooza held her thanksgiving upon becoming the new district woman MP replacing NUP’s Christine Kaaya Nakimwero, Oboth-Oboth revealed that the people of Greater Bukedi where he hails from, just like those of Acholi which was represented by fellow Minister Hillary Onek, had decided to keep overwhelmingly voting for Gen YK Museveni back to the Presidency for as long as he runs for the top job.
He said the Japhadolas are dying on Gen Museveni because it’s only under him that their sub region can be assured of having Ministers in the Ugandan Cabinet. He said the same applies to the Acholis, whose Hillary Onek he said can only be made Minister under Gen Museveni. He claimed that under NUP government, himself and Onek would surely be dropped immediately and sidelined because of where they come from.
“You know that group you saved us from by overwhelmingly voting for the President here in Kiboga and elsewhere in Buganda, have those things of insiders and it’s not possible for them to have Ministers like myself or Eng Onek because they see us as outsiders. They look at other considerations unlike President Museveni whose philosophy is that every community of Uganda must see themselves in Cabinet because Cabinet is for the whole country,” Oboth-Oboth told a cheering crowd as Muhooza translated.
“For us in NRM, we are about national integration and government means inclusion of everyone so that all communities of Uganda are on board. And even in our high level meetings, we don’t talk about tribes nor religion. We are a party of national unity and all our leader President Museveni wants is the welfare of all citizens of Uganda.”
Oboth-Oboth said that it’s for the desire to make everyone rich and economically empowered, leading to universal welfare of all citizens, that drove Gen Museveni into coming up with PDM so that people in every household of Uganda get involved into economic activities and become rich.
His well-elaborated praise of Gen Museveni, as a person, corroborated the submission of Eng Onek who in an earlier speech had made it clear that his Acholi co-ethnics and the entire Greater North would always vote for Gen YK Museveni and subsequently whoever the Movement will sponsor when his time to bow out of the presidential project finally comes.
The two Ministers thanked leaders like Desire Muhooza for vigorously mobilizing the masses to ensure that the people of Kiboga and the entire Buganda region once again embraced Musevenism by voting for more Movementists into elective office than was the case five years earlier, in 2021.
