The Electoral Commission (EC) has distanced itself from an online platform,[www.registry.ugtally.com](http://www.registry.ugtally.com), operated by the organization FANON, which claims to assist the public in accessing voter registration details and polling stations. The EC issued a strong warning on December 31, 2025, stating that FANON’s website is unauthorized and does not have any affiliation with the Commission.
In its press release signed by the Chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama, the EC clarified that it has exclusive authority under the 1995 Constitution of Uganda, specifically Articles 60 and 61, to manage the National Voters Register. This includes compiling, maintaining, revising, and updating voter information. The Commission emphasized that any unauthorized use or distribution of voter registration data, such as through FANON’s platform, is illegal and punishable under Ugandan law.
Byabakama also pointed out that FANON has never applied for or been accredited as a voter education organization by the Electoral Commission. It further stressed that the creation and operation of systems that allow voters to access their information online is a responsibility that belongs solely to the Commission.
The Electoral Commission expressed concern that the unauthorized website could potentially mislead users, providing inaccurate information or misusing personal data. It urged the public not to interact with the site, submit personal details, or use its services.
In addition to the public warning, the Electoral Commission has formally written to the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), requesting guidance on appropriate legal action against the unauthorized platform.
The EC reminded Ugandans to rely only on the official Electoral Commission website, [www.ec.or.ug] (http://www.ec.or.ug), to verify their voter registration status and polling station locations.
The Electoral Commission issued the warning in order to protect citizens’ personal information, prevent confusion, and guard against misuse or potential harm. The Commission reiterated its commitment to ensuring free and fair elections while protecting the integrity of the electoral process in Uganda.
For more details, the public is encouraged to visit the EC’s official website or contact the Commission directly.
