Western Uganda was left in a storm of excitement and talk after FDC presidential candidate Nathan Nandala Mafabi swept through Buhweju, Sheema, and Bushenyi with fiery speeches and bold promises that sent crowds cheering.
From Karungu to Nsiika, Kajjani, and finally Kabohwe Town Council, Nandala told the people that Uganda is ready for a fresh start, and many said they had never heard promises this direct.
He vowed to bring agro-processing plants to Buhweju and other districts so farmers can finally earn well from coffee, tea, and matooke instead of selling them cheap in raw form.
Farmers shouted in approval as he said their sweat should not make others rich while they stay poor.
The biggest uproar came when he accused the government of abandoning local gold miners and letting foreigners walk away with Uganda’s mineral wealth.
He promised to give miners the machines and support they need so they can benefit from the gold under their own feet.
Nandala told the crowds he is a leader who cares, and his promises kept growing.
He said elderly people will receive 60,000 shillings each month, roads and hospitals will be improved, and jobs will be created for youth and former civil servants.
People gasped when he announced that every village in Uganda will get 100 million shillings every year for its own development projects — money that goes straight to the community, not through middlemen.
He also promised strong education and healthcare, more support for coffee farmers, and free schooling for the children of security officers from Primary to University.
To young graduates struggling to find jobs, he pledged one million shillings to help them start small businesses and build their future.
As he left the rallies, crowds followed his convoy, shouting his name and saying his visit had brought new hope and new energy to the region.
