Led by their caucus Chairman Robert Migadde Ndugwa, 32 MPs the NRM has in Parliament from Buganda region have implored their party National Chairman Gen YK Museveni to unequivocally emphasize to his campaign managers and campaign rallies organizers to ensure that musicians who dress indecently and shout vulgar words while on stage are totally banned from his rallies.
Ndugwa says that Buganda region is going to be very delicate for the NRM to campaign in because ordinary voters there are very sensitive yet there are opposition squads in almost every part of Buganda who are dedicated to finding and video-documenting such scenes from NRM campaign rallies and use it to demonize the President and other NRM candidates, as morally decadent.
“We stand a high chance as NRM to recapture Buganda but we must be vigilant and keep cautioning ourselves. Our opponents don’t have a serious agenda to campaign on except demonizing NRM and creating a wedge between us and the leadership of Buganda Kingdom. Let’s be clear from the start and act vigilantly by asking our national chairman to ensure that none of those vulgar musicians and those that are indecently dressed is allowed to perform anywhere at the President’s or other NRM candidates’ rallies anywhere,” said Migadde.
Speaking at Hotel Africana where the new Buganda region Vice Chairman Haruna Kasolo converged a meeting of all NRM flag bearers from Buganda region, Hon Migadde (who also chairs the Buganda on Museveni campaign initiative) suggested that such musicians should be strictly banished and denied a platform at Museveni’s and other NRM candidates’ campaigning events even if they are willing to perform or sing for free of charge.
