Representing 10 media outlets, a group of 25 actors and entities have applied to Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) seeking to be authorized to have license renewals to permit them continue operating the radio and television broadcasting business.

Under the laws of Uganda, UCC is mandated to issue licenses and regulate all broadcasting media operations in Uganda and the truth is that no one can engage in lawful broadcasting without its permission.

A list of the latest applicants has been published by UCC calling on members of the public with any objections to raise them clearing stipulating clear reasons as to why any of the applicants’ license renewal application should be disallowed.

Any member of the public with reasons as to why any of the applicants isn’t eligible for license renewal has been advised write to the UCC Executive Director elaborating on the same. The relevant communication can be channelled to the regulatory Commission through the email address legallicensing@ucc.co.ug or even via making a phone call through calling ±256 414339000 or ±256312339000.

The Commission is prepared to inquire into whatever concern that gets raised objecting to issuance or renewal of license to any of the applicants who have been disclosed to include Fr Leo Maasburg, Fr Isidorf Mbaleeba, Captain Joseph Charlesroy and Justice Remmy Kasule who are the disclosed shareholders behind the Catholic Church’s Radio Maria which is among those applying for license extension and renewal.
