By Mulengera Reporters Equity Bank has announced it will use the Uganda North America Association (UNAA) Convention in New Orleans to showcase its wide range of financial services tailored for Ugandans living abroad.
The week-long annual gathering, which attracts Ugandans will open on Friday, August 29th, policymakers and business leaders, will give the Bank a platform to demonstrate how its diaspora banking solutions can help Ugandans abroad invest back home.
Winfred Wanjiru, Head of International Banking at Equity Bank Uganda, said the bank is committed to helping Ugandans abroad remain connected to their families and communities. She explained, “Through this partnership, we reaffirm our commitment to providing innovative financial solutions that enable the diaspora to invest back home and remain closely connected to their families.”
Equity Bank will provide information on diaspora accounts, international remittances, investment opportunities and advisory services. Its team will also engage Ugandans abroad in discussions on entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.
“Our goal is not just to provide banking solutions but to foster a stronger connection between Ugandans at home and abroad. We believe the diaspora is an important player in the country’s economic growth and we are committed to supporting their financial and investment needs,” Wanjiru added.
Bank officials reminded the diaspora that distance should not be a barrier to economic participation, noting that “the cow that belongs to many does not die of hunger.” With tailored solutions, Ugandans abroad can now buy property, invest in projects and still feed into the national economy while thousands of miles away.
