MUVAWALA LOBBIES M7 FOR MUTEBILE’S BOU JOB
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Busoga Katukiro Dr. Joseph Muvawala is increasingly positioning himself for a top job in the Finance sector and treasury. Muvawala is currently the Executive Director National Planning Authority (NPA) and several Busoga delegations have been to the President requesting him to endorse Muvawala for the next Bank of Uganda governor when Prof Emmanuel Mutebile’s contract finally expires in a few years’ time. The Busoga delegations have explained to Museveni that Muvawala’s NPA contract is about to expire and that when it expires their son shouldn’t become undeployed because he is still too young to retire just like that. In the alternative the Busoga delegations are arguing that in case Muvawala can’t become BoU governor, he should at least be given the job of Finance Permanent Secretary & Secretary to Treasury (PSST) which is currently occupied by Keith Muhakanizi. It’s widely suspected Museveni could appoint Muhakanizi to replace Mutebile at BoU in a few years’ time from now. This will create a vacuum at the treasury which the Busoga delegations have requested the President to allow Muvawala to occupy and lead the treasury since he is a good economist. In the past as a younger person, Muvawala lectured at Makerere University Faculty of Economics and it’s during his stay in the academia that he acquired the PhD hence the title Doctor. Reliable State House sources have confirmed to this news website that this request for the BoU or PSST job was first made to the President when Muvawala led a Busoga kingdom delegation that begged him (M7) to give Kyabazinga Gabula the job of Ambassador representing Uganda in the UK. Museveni granted Gabula’s request for the job that very day and gave him a luxury double cabin to ride in when he is going out to enjoy life in the evenings while in Kampala. He also granted him permission to have an office in Entebbe State House as his assistant on diplomatic affairs. However on the issue of the making Muvawala the BoU governor or PSST, Museveni remained silent. He never gave any direct answers but reliable sources say the Busoga delegation seemed so desperate to get Muvawala out of NPA that one old man said to the President that “ok sir if you can’t make him governor or PSST at least give him the position of Permanent Secretary.” It’s understood that during that very meeting, Muvawala himself expressed readiness to serve as either BoU governor, PSST or even Permanent Secretary whichever the big man gives him. Watch this space for more updates on this Muvawala story including a story on why intelligence agencies have since considered Muvawala unsuitable for any of these posts he is lobbying for.
