The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has introduced a new online tool designed to help Ugandans compare prices for communication services across various sectors ( TariffGuideUG). The platform is part of UCC’s broader efforts to empower consumers through transparency and better access to information.
Accessible via www.tariffguideug.com, TariffGuideUG allows users to explore and compare tariffs from licensed providers in telecom, Pay TV, radio, and postal services. This includes data bundles, voice call rates, TV subscription packages, radio advertising charges, and courier delivery fees.
The tool was introduced in response to the persistent challenge consumers face when trying to understand or access the most affordable or suitable service options.
Many Ugandans have had to rely on word of mouth or advertising messages that don’t always provide the full picture. With TariffGuideUG, users can now find up-to-date tariff information in one central place, reducing confusion and helping them make better-informed decisions.
The portal is user-friendly and works on both desktop and mobile devices. It features an easy-to-navigate layout with service categories clearly outlined.
Once a user selects the service they want to explore (such as internet bundles or Pay TV options) they can see a list of providers, available offers, prices, and package details.
In addition to comparing prices, the platform showcases the latest promotional offers from various service providers, aimed at helping users take advantage of seasonal deals, discounts, or time-limited packages that they may otherwise miss.
TariffGuide also plays a regulatory role by creating more visibility in the market. With all providers expected to regularly update their tariffs on the platform, it promotes fair competition and discourages hidden charges or unadvertised variations in service pricing.
UCC monitors the updates to ensure that the information posted is accurate, timely, and in line with the providers’ official submissions.
The launch of TariffGuide is part of the Commission’s wider mandate to protect consumer interests while encouraging innovation and fair practice in Uganda’s communications sector. The tool complements ongoing initiatives in digital literacy, service quality monitoring, and consumer complaint handling.
TariffGuideUG is now live and open for public use. UCC is encouraging all consumers to take advantage of the platform as they explore, compare, and choose smart.
