By Mulengera Reporters

Through its Minister of information Oweek Israel Kazibwe Kitooke, Mengo has officially responded to the apology Museven and his wife extended to Buganda during a prayer gathering at Kololo.

Mengo says the apology is okay because it shows Museven has realized his political sins of mistreating Baganda and punishing the region for no good reason, including its Kabaka for now 40 years yet they supported his NRA war, which brought him to power in 1986.

Oweek Kazibwe Kitooke says that Buganda is willing to forgive Museven if he shows he is serious by increasing the number of Baganda in public positions including cabinet since this is a national cake that has to be shared.

He also says that to be forgiven, Museven must also return all Buganda’s Ebyaffe, pay all the billions Buganda is demanding in rent for its properties and land which the central government is using without paying.

He also wants Museven and his ministers to treat the Kabaka with more respect because that will make the ordinary Baganda to like him even more.

Oweek Kazibwe says that Museveni’s popularity in Buganda can go up once again the way it was in the 1980s if he can do all the good things and stop discriminating Baganda from the national cake.

This may not be true because Museveni is hated by mostly young people all over Uganda, who are the majority in the whole country, because he has overstayed, has failed to end corruption, to stop torture & human rights violations.

Other young people are resentful because he makes underserving people to be ministers and to occupy other big positions yet social services like hospitals, security services from the police and roads remain very poor in many areas of Buganda including in Kampala metropolitan area of Mpigi, Wakiso, Mukono and Kampala itself.

Harassment by URA tax collectors who go around targeting small businesses is also creating a lot of anger against Museveni and also corruption deals in government are causing Museveni to be hated by young people not only in Buganda but the whole country. Yet the most important cause of hate for Museven is long stay in power.

He has been president for 40 years and still wants more.  When he became president in 1986, seven in even ten Ugandans hadn’t yet been born.

Many are young and now resent him with a passion because of the arrogance of his supporters like Andrew Mwenda who keep justifying torture of civilians and citizens by members of the security forces.
