Brig General Emmanuel Rwashande is determined to lead the charge and finally end Theodore Ssekikubo’s perpetual political dominance over Rwemiyaga County in Mawogola Ssembabule.
He thinks he stands a chance of delivering victory where earlier opponents like Patrick Nkalubo, Joy Kafura Kabatsi etc failed. At least Nkalubo had Kutesa’s backing but still failed to overcome Ssekikubo.
Rwashande, who recently rang former Minister Joy Kabatsi directing her to stop criticizing him on public media platforms, has secured backing of a lot of people.
One of these is Ssembabule/Mawogola king maker Senior Counsel Sam Kutesa who has been Mawogola kingmaker for decades and was MP between 1980 and 2021 when he bowed out and was replaced by his daughter Shartsi Musherure.
Kutesa has demonstrably been the godfather of Rwashande for some time even before he plunged into the murky political waters of Rwemiyaga.
He was last year the guest of honor at Protea Hotel where Rwashande had a luncheon to celebrate his retirement and discharge from the army.
Then a few months ago, the same Rwashande had a big event to celebrate the completion and entry into his lakeside residence in Kigo.
Still Kutesa was the invited chief guest. When SK failed to make it there, due to ill health, he dispatched former Minister John Nasasira who came and represented him.
Then on another occasion, Gen Rwashande was fundraising for the improvement of the health center III in his birth place Rushere in March and still counted on SK’s bottomless pockets.
As of now, SK who has been battling Ssekikubo for an eternity, is now optimistic that through Gen Rwashande, the big man of Rwemiyaga is finally going to be sent to the political Taiwan.
In his case, Sam Kutesa wants to retain the position of NRM Chairman for Ssembabule district.
His daughter Musherure is once again facing Gen Museveni’s younger brother Aine Sodo Kaguta who says it’s now or never.
In 2021, Sodo bowed out having faced a lot of pressure, in favor of Musherure who he says was supposed to do only one term of five years and let go. He is back and says he won’t be listening to anyone this time round.
