It was a moment of inspiration and generosity at Entebbe International Airport earlier this week, as the Minister of Works and Transport, Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala, held a signing session for his widely acclaimed autobiography Endurance, a book that has become both a personal testimony and a tool for national upliftment.
Hosted by the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the signing event attracted several aviation stakeholders, leaders, and dignitaries who showed overwhelming support, purchasing over 200 copies.
But it wasn’t just about books; but giving back, as Gen. Katumba revealed that 10% of the proceeds will go towards providing nutritional support for children suffering from cancer, a gesture that earned him standing ovation from many in attendance.
The Chairman of the CAA Board, Hon. Justice Steven Kavuma, did not hold back his admiration for the man of the moment, praising him: “Gen. Katumba is a down-to-earth leader, full of humility and rich in experience. He is the kind of public servant this country needs,” he said.
CAA Director General Fred Bamwesigye described the book as a reservoir of knowledge. “It offers powerful lessons for leaders, policymakers and even ordinary citizens. It’s a must-read for anyone serious about growth and resilience.”
While addressing guests, Gen. Katumba encouraged Ugandans to write down their life experiences while they still can. In his words, Katumba said, “Everyone has a story. Don’t wait until it’s too late. Success doesn’t care about your background, but only listens to focus and determination.”
Among those present was Entebbe Municipality Mayor, Mr. Fabrice Rulinda, who purchased several copies in support of the initiative.
The Commissioner for Transport Regulation and Safety, Mr. Winstone Katushabe, and aviation players from Menzies Aviation, Uganda Air Cargo, Entebbe Municipal Council, and the Airlines Operators Committee were also in attendance.
Mr. Frank Kabushenga of TFK Luminary, who also attended the event, called the book “a sure shot to victory,” urging Ugandans to buy it not just for themselves, but for the next generation of readers and leaders.
