Like a rock standing firm against the crashing waves, General Christopher Ddamulira remains undeterred by the persistent attacks from controversial blogger Fred Lumbuye.
While Lumbuye, an exiled National Unity Platform (NUP) propagandist based in Turkey, continues his online campaign to demonize the Ugandan security chief, Ddamulira is busy on the ground, rallying the people of Kisenyi towards peace, security, and development.
On his latest visit to Kisenyi, on friday, a former crime-ridden slum now transforming into a vibrant commercial hub, the Uganda Police Director of Crime Intelligence expressed gratitude to the ghetto youth, vendors, taxi operators, and boda boda riders for working closely with security agencies to restore order. “A crime-free society is the bedrock of peace, security, and socio-economic transformation,” he emphasized.
Ddamulira’s grassroots mobilization in Kampala’s ghettos is in direct contrast to Lumbuye’s relentless online smears. The motor mouth blogger, who has positioned himself as an informal spokesman for Bobi Wine’s NUP in the diaspora, has always likened Ddamulira to infamous past enforcers like Maria Mungu, a brutal security officer from the Amin era. He further accuses Ddamulira of orchestrating “drone operations” used to arrest NUP supporters wearing army-style overalls and berets.
Despite these attacks, Ddamulira remains focused on his mission to pacify urban crime hotspots. His efforts to sanitize the ghettos have won him both praise and resentment, while local communities are seeing the benefits of reduced crime, NUP and its online influencers view his crackdown as a direct challenge to their political agenda.
Reports indicate that NUP activists have even lobbied Western powers to sanction the police general, a move that has so far yielded no success.
For now, Ddamulira’s approach remains unchanged. His continued engagement with urban communities signals a determination to root out crime and transform slums into centers of productivity.
While Lumbuye’s social media attacks may rage on, it appears the general is too preoccupied with real action to entertain what he considers “fake news.” (For comments on this story, get back to us on 0705579994 [WhatsApp line], 0779411734 & 041 4674611 or email us at mulengeranews@gmail.com).
