Emmanuel Nyabayangu, a diehard Museveni supporter based in Kakiri, says he is ready to give evidence in Margaret Musoke Bukenya’s divorce cause because he too lost his wife (Margaret Kabasinguzi) to ex-VP Gilbert Bukenya. Nyabayangu says Bukenya asked for his wife to head his 1996 campaign taskforce for Busiro North MP Seat but used that chance to bed his wife and in the process siring children with her. He says Margaret Kabasinguzi, with whom he fathered 6 children, turned against him and left the Kakiri home to live in Fort Portal in a mansion built for her by Bukenya. Nyabayangu, who was busy driving diplomats at the Rwandan embassy in the late 1990s as Bukenya wrecked his marriage, says Bukenya (whose ascendance to the VP office he celebrated and thanked Museveni for) used the very office to destroy his marrige and eventually trying to kill him. He says Bukenya one time sumoned him to his office and punched him to the point of badly bleeding as his excited bodyguards watched. He says he reported to Naddangira Catholic Parish under which Bukenya’s Kakiri residence falls but wasn’t helped. The same happened at Rubaga Cathedral, Ndeeba Catholic Parish and Pope Paul. He says on being shunned by the Catholic Church to which they both belong, he reported the matter to Kawempe police and later on Mpigi Court and eventually Makindye-based Family Division of the High Court. He says this scared Bukenya who was still VP and he reacted by offering him Shs150m to quieten him so that he doesn’t report the case to the media. He says Bukenya only gave him small insignifcant instalments that totalled to Shs110m and when he demanded balance, the cracking Mahogamy thumped him like chicken thief. He complains that Bukenya has now resorted to using New Vision to character assasinate him that he was paid Shs150m whereas not. Referring to the MoU that was witnessed by respective lawyers, Nyabayangu says the money was to prevent him from talking to the press and was never a price for his wife. He says his court case has been very expensive but he won’t give up because his now grown up children keep asking why he allowed Bukenya to take their mother. Indeed Margaret Kabasinguzi is one of the women Bukenya’s wife lists in her divorce petition as being among those the former VP has been sleeping with since deserting his marital home in Ntinda.
