As the cabinet reshuffle fever continues spreading like bush fire, Mulengera News has established that there is more panic at NRM Secretariat Plot 10 Kyadondo Road than even is the case among ministers. The NRM party is expected to hold a delegates conference in Namboole later this year and the big man from Rwakitura is desirous to have a new team at Kyadondo ahead of that major ruling party event.
Sources say that the fact that some top officials have previously expressed desire to be relieved of their duties due to political fatigue and others due to desire to prepare to reclaim their MP positions in 2021 is another impetus making the NRM national chairman feeling more justified to act and occasion grand changes at Kyadondo before even heads roll in cabinet. This possibility has created anxiety at Kyadondo among influential employees and office holders who fear their power broker status could dwindle the moment new leadership is established at the Secretariat.
Away from Kyadondo, there is also a listing of 30 Ministers who the President considers easily disposable because they have largely been inactive since their posting mid-2016. Without giving names, a State House source said: “This is strange but true. There are ministers who have never appeared anywhere in the media creating any visibility for government. They don’t attend burials and aren’t active in party activities even in their constituencies. There are also some who have never defended government on the floor of parliament or even addressed reporters at Media Center. They are fearful to even attend talk shows or baraza discussions in the districts they hail from.”
It has also been revealed the impending changes the President is understood to be concretizing in his just commenced retreat to his country home could also affect people at State House where two actively antagonistic tendencies are understood to exist one headed by PPS Molly Kamukama and another headed by State House Comptroller Lucy Nakyobe. Reliable sources say one of the two powerful ladies could be moved to Cabinet (most likely as Presidency Minister) to deescalate things at Entebbe.
