After enduring bad publicity for sometime, Sudhir’s son Rajiv Ruparelia has taken steps to win back some of his lost reputation. He has used his Rajiv Ruparelia Youth Scholarship Foundation to extend some philanthropy to the young people through the Ministry of Youth and Children affairs.

In his letter to the Youth Minister Nakiwala Kiyingi, Rajiv announces a very generous package that comprises of 1100 scholarships at his father’s Victoria University. Gratefully, Rajiv (whose unexpected offer has since raised many questions) has ensured that all the scholarships go to Science based disciplines. 200 scholarships are for Health Sciences; 150 for Business Management; 200 for Science and Technology; 250 for Humanities& 300 for Petroleum and Energy studies.
He says the offer is open to all Ugandan youth who completed A’ level and passed with 2 principle passes. It is also open for those holding diplomas but are desirous to pursue further studies at degree level. He says that all those that qualify will be required to pay only 30% and his Foundation will pay the remaining 70% of the tuition fees. He makes it clear that this offer is the least his Foundation can do to compliment Florence Nakiwala’s efforts in developing the youth of Uganda. The offer has led to a very paralyzing debate among many social media commentators wondering what exactly Rajiv is anticipating to achieve from such a generous offer in the long term.
