The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) hosted the URA Women’s Conference 2025 at Wash & Wills Hotel, Mbale City, on March 6th, bringing together women in business, agriculture, and finance to discuss the role of taxation in economic empowerment.
Themed “Making Tax Work for You,” the event focused on educating women about the benefits of tax compliance and how it contributes to business growth and national development.
Chelangat Dorothy, Head of Internal Security in Mbale City, commended URA for recognizing the role of women in economic development and dedicating a special day to their education and empowerment.
She emphasized that women, as the backbone of society, play a crucial role in upholding the nation’s stability and growth. She urged them to embrace tax compliance, highlighting that the rewards of taxation are only realized when businesses operate within the legal framework.
She further noted that the increasing number of female taxpayers and business leaders is a testament to the government’s efforts in supporting women’s economic participation.
With various initiatives in place to encourage female entrepreneurs, she encouraged attendees to take advantage of available opportunities, work hard and contribute to Uganda’s economy.
The conference featured discussions on financial literacy, taxation policies, and how women-led businesses can leverage tax incentives for sustainable growth. By providing a platform for learning and networking, URA reaffirmed its commitment to supporting women in their entrepreneurial and professional journeys.
URA continues to drive initiatives that foster inclusive economic participation, ensuring that women are equipped with the knowledge and resources to thrive in Uganda’s evolving business landscape.
