A powerful wave of pride and unity swept through Mestil Hotel as the Uganda Revenue Authority hosted a remarkable Iftar dinner that turned into a glowing tribute to Uganda’s Muslim community. The evening was filled with celebration, gratitude, and strong national spirit as leaders applauded Muslims for their outstanding tax compliance.
The special Ramadan gathering in Kampala brought together top officials, Muslim leaders, and URA staff for a night that blended faith with patriotism. What began as a simple Iftar dinner quickly became a bold statement about honesty, responsibility, and commitment to national development.
Standing in for Commissioner General John Rujoki Musinguzi, Commissioner of Domestic Taxes Dennis Kugonza Kateba delivered heartfelt appreciation to the Muslim community. He recognized their voluntary tax compliance as a powerful contribution to Uganda’s growth. According to officials, consistent tax payment fuels national projects, strengthens public services, and keeps the country moving forward.
The room was filled with applause as Muslim staff within URA were also praised for their integrity, professionalism, and patriotism. Their dedication to serving Uganda while upholding strong moral values was described as inspiring and worthy of admiration.
The spiritual tone of the evening deepened when Sheikh Dr. Ashraf Mutagubya encouraged Muslims to embrace self-discipline during Ramadan. He stressed that fasting builds character and strengthens the ability to serve the nation with honesty and dedication. His message connected faith directly to national service, drawing strong support from the audience.
Adding further energy to the event, Haji Asadu Kisitu Kigozi, Commissioner of Customs and Chairperson of the Muslim community at URA, reaffirmed the community’s readiness to continue serving Uganda with dignity and loyalty. His remarks reinforced the strong bond between faith and civic duty.
The Iftar dinner was more than a religious gathering. It became a symbol of unity between URA and the Muslim community. As guests broke their fast together, the message was clear: tax compliance is not just a legal duty, but a patriotic act that drives Uganda’s progress.
