The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has announced plans to supply equipment for repairing and maintaining ICT computer laboratories in 192 secondary schools across the country, a move aimed at supporting digital learning and improving the use of technology in government schools.
UCC says it has set aside funds for this project and is now inviting interested companies to submit bids. The bidding process is open to all eligible local suppliers and will follow the government’s public procurement guidelines under the PPDA Act of 2003.
Many schools in Uganda have ICT labs that are not working properly due to old or broken equipment, and through this initiative, UCC hopes to help these schools fix their computer labs so that students can access digital learning tools and improve their computer skills.
The bidding documents are available in English and can be collected from the UCC offices in Bugolobi after paying a fee of 100,000 shillings, a payment must be made to UCC’s account at Stanbic Bank, Corporate Branch, Crested Towers in Kampala.
The deadline for submitting bids is 28th July 2025 at 10:00 am, after which, late submissions will not be accepted, and the bids will be opened shortly after, at 10:15 am, at the UCC House in Bugolobi.
The Commission said the winning bidder will be announced after the evaluation process, and the contract will be signed once cleared by the Solicitor General.
All interested companies are advised to inspect and collect the bidding documents from the Procurement and Disposal Unit at UCC House, Plot 42-44 Spring Road, Bugolobi during working hours.
This effort is part of UCC’s ongoing work to improve access to ICT services in rural and underserved areas. In the past, the Commission has supported schools, health centres, and local governments with digital tools through the Rural Communications Development Fund, and now, the current project is expected to help students, especially those in rural schools, to catch up with the digital world.
