Ex-VP Gilbert Bukenya has lost his cool and told off Kasanda South MP Simeo Nsubuga urging him to stop beefing Bobi Wine and his People Power Movement. In a social media rant last night, Bukenya furiously reacted to Simeo’s utterances in the media where he jubilated the blocking of the Busabala Boxing Day concert and urged Bobi to choose between politics and music because he can’t do both withtout landing into problems with the Museveni state. Responding to a story carried on Sarah Kagingo’s Softpower news blog (titled Simeo Nsubuga: Bobi should sacrifice politics for Music), Bukenya angrily posted “Nsubuga should (instead) sacrifice politics for Police Work.” Later contributing to a discussion on a whatsapp forum called Senior Citizens (administered by Ernest Benjamin Kivumbi), Bukenya said Simeo who originally made his name in police should know that Bobi is free to make a name for himself through boss music and politcs. Bukenya dismissed Simeo as an envious politcian whom he warned against engaging in “loose talk to gain mileage at expense of young vibrant politcians like Bobi Wine.” Bukenya then agreed with a member who said there was nothing wrong with one carrying on with his or her prior profession even after becoming MP. He cautioned Simeo to stop his sycophancy because “he isn’t the first nor the last one” to be favored by Museveni. Bukenya urged Simeo to publicly withdraw his “reckless advice” to Bobi whom he (Simeo) urged to choose between music and opposition politics. Saying he was speaking as “H.E.” and not “mere honorable,” Bukenya gave himself as an example saying being VP or Busiro North MP never stopped him from his medical practice from which he ekes a living up to this day. Bukenya responded to a member who said Simeo shouldn’t interfere with Bobi’s efforts “to balance the boat” between politics and music. “That’s very nice the former VP,” said the former VP who a few days ago predicted a potential Bobi Wine Presidency. Bukenya urged Simeo to stop trading hatred as a way of promoting his political profile. “Always remember that my younger brother (Simeo),” Bukenya counselled. Simeo is a member of the same forum but didn’t say anything in response to Bukenya’s prolonged lecture. Bukenya said Simeo only needed to be posessed with common sense to get his basic point adding that he doesn’t need to read any complex textbooks. Bukenya encouraged those who see a political liberator in Bobi Wine by saying “That’s your opinion please stick to it.” Someone criticized Bukenya for being excited in Bobi Wine whom he (critic) likened to Olara Otunnu who was hyped but in the end failed to remove Museveni. “Many others we jumped on succeeded,” Bukenya replied without elaborating. Bukenya urged sceptics to go slow on Bobi Wine because they are going to be rudely shocked. And someone excitedly posted “H.E. you have cracked the rock” and Bukenya instantly replied “These days I crack them very often.”
