If you thought President Museveni was merely cracking jokes when he famously praised Lt Col Edith Nakalema at Kololo recently saying he had a lot of hopes in her, just read this. Just days after her anti-corruption unit being publicly unveiled, Nakalema has gone on the offensive and many are already trembling. Forget about her televised raid on Wakiso land office which we all saw. She is determined to go much deeper than that including walking into spaces were none previously dared to go. The latest info reaching us shows that the Museveni blue eyed girl from Kashari in Mbarara district a few days ago unearthed grand corruption and impropriety by key government officials targeting investors behind Simba Cement Company which Museveni proudly launched months ago in the Eastern Uganda district of Tororo. Dependable sources close to her have revealed to this news website that Afande Nakalema on 19th December met the H.E and presented her preliminary findings profiling some of his aides, MPs and Ministers who have used their alleged closeness to him to manipulate the Simba Cement investors to buy their favors and protection using allotment of shares to them in their business. “The President is extremely furious and chaired a meeting a few days ago at which Lucy Nakyobe and Gen Nalweyiso were very outspoken saying ‘we warned about some of the people you have been trusting.’ He feels so much betrayed and might order closure of that company to have comprehensive investigations. People close to the investor have already made shocking confessions implicating some of the officials Nakalema discloses in her report. The H.E is very furious and heads will be rolling anytime soon,” said a State House insider close to the matter. “The Nakalema expose has led to so much turmoil and anxiety that some of the Indians have already gone into hiding having failed to tell how the President intends to close that matter which gives him an opportunity to walk the talk and demonstrate seriousness to crack the whip on grand corruption in this country. He has to act if he is to match the pace his peers like Kagame, Uhuru Kenyatta and Magufuli have set in their countries.” We are told that in a recent top level State House meeting, one of the influential officials got so furious and told the President point blank “I will resign my position if no action is taken on these latest findings by Col Edith Nakalema.” We are informed the big man intends to require all the implicated officials to declare their assets for immediate verification by the IGG and would like to see some people publicly prosecuted to demonstrate seriousness in the anti-graft war that Nakalema is now spearheading. “The big man is in total shock because one of the MPs Nakalema has exposed as having shares is someone he has been trusting very much as a good political mobilization cadre, ”said a source adding that the latest expose has made many government officials realize that incorruptible Nakalema isn’t going to be easy. “He is now treating Nakalema’s latest findings as a tip of the iceberg and wants comprehensive inquiry into the extent to which the practice [of public officials being bribed with shares] is wide spread in Ugandan private companies.” We are told one pompous official (abbreviated as AK) has already been reprimanded as the big man awaits for more corroboration from Nakalema detailing the Tororo Simba Cement saga. Some insiders have tried reaching out to Museveni pleading that some of the officials Nakalema is implicating are very effective political mobilizers in their districts of origin. Watch this space!
