Gad Rugaaju, the Kabale Deputy RDC and the administration of Kabale Institute of Health Sciences have disagreed over the expulsion of two female students. The institution’s Principal, Faida Furaya last week expelled Fortunate Nuwabine and Grace Ahumuza all second-year students for alleged theft.
Furaya accused them of illegally withdrawing Shs100,000 from a mobile money account of John Ouma, the Secretary to Kabale regional referral hospital director, Dr Sophie Namasopo. Despite Nuwabine and Ahumuza denying the accusations, Furaya ordered the students to refund the money to Ouma. After refunding the money, the students were expelled. The students petitioned the office of Kabale RDC to intervene.
Rugaaju questions Furaya’s decision to expel the students without involving police since the matter is criminal. Rugaaju also accuses Furaya of expelling the students yet they are still suspects. Rugaaju says that he is soon writing to the Nursing Council and Commissioner in charge of Higher Learning in the Ministry of Education and Sports. Rugaaju also says that he has received several complaints from students accusing Furaya and the entire administration of poor administration. In her response, Furaya insists that she has no reason to discuss with Rugaaju about the matter.
She says that the expulsion was discussed and endorsed by the Institution’s disciplinary committee. Nuwabine says all the accusations against her and Ahumuza are mere fabrications. For comments, call, text or whatsapp us on 0704142939.
