Court on Monday heard that pornographic videos and images were sent from one of the accused nine young men, Reagan Ssentongo’s phone to a number the Uganda police forensic expert associated with city pastor Robert Kayanja, as cross-examination of a key witness turned tense at the Mwanga II Magistrate’s Court in Mengo, Kampala.
Police digital analyst Enock Kanene told court that his examination of Ssentongo’s device showed explicit material being shared with a contact saved as Mzee, which he linked to the Miracle Centre Cathedral lead pastor.
Kanene was clear on the point, that the material moved in one direction, saying the investigators did not get any pornographic content sent from the Kayanja’s phone back to Ssentongo.
The issue dominated cross-examination by state prosecutor Jonathan Muwaganya, who pressed the witness to explain the apparent one-sided exchange. As questioning intensified, Muwaganya raised his voice, prompting objections from defence lawyers of Ojambo and Ojambo Advocates.
“You are here to question the witness, not to intimidate him,” said one of the Ojambo lawyers as he intervened.
Trial magistrate Adams Byarugaba intervened, directing the prosecutor to lower his tone and proceed professionally. Muwaganya defended his approach but later backed down and continued in a calmer manner.
Kanene maintained his position throughout, insisting his findings were based strictly on forensic analysis. He told court that the explicit material on Ssentongo’s phone was sourced in different ways, some recorded directly using the device, while others were downloaded or shared through platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and Xender, according to his findings.
He added that the data examined confirmed interaction between Ssentongo and the number linked to Kayanja.
Court also previously heard that some data on the “Mzee” side showed signs of deletion, though this did not form the core of Monday’s testimony.
The case was adjourned to May 14, 2026, when the defence will re-examine the forensic witness before continuing with its case. (For comments on this story, get back to us on 0705579994 [WhatsApp line], 0779411734 & 041 4674611 or email us at mulengeranews@gmail.com).
