OPONDO REVEALS SPEAKER KADAGA ROLE IN M7 SOLE CANDIDATURE FOR 2021

Government spokesman Ofwono Opondo has revealed that contrary to what the public thinks, Speaker Rebecca Kadaga is enthusiastic about President Museveni’s continued stay in power and she is actually involved in schemes to ensure he returns as the sole candidate for the NRM in 2021. Speaking on the Capital Gang this morning, Opondo disclosed that during the just-concluded CEC retreat in Chobe (which he attended), it was Kadaga who cheerfully chaired discussions that culminated into the CEC resolution endorsing Museveni’s sole Presidential candidature in 2021. Opondo explained that Museveni was available but because the matter being discussed concerned him, he excused himself for any of his deputies to chair that very important session. Opondo says that Moses Kigongo, who is the immediate deputy to Museveni, was willingly present but Kadaga stepped forward insisting to be the one to chair the session. Challenged by panelists Semuju Nganda and Abdul Katuntu as to why CEC continues to be used to impose the veteran leader on the party and country, Opondo said Museveni’s sole candidature is an outcome of consensus which is one of the productive methods of work that have kept NRM on top. He said the two FDC honchos have no moral authority to criticize NRM over Museveni’s sole candidature because, with Gen Muntu’s acrimonious departure, FDC will clearly continue to be stuck with one flag bearer in the names of Dr. Kizza Besigye. Opondo’s revelations about Kadaga’s conduct at the Chobe retreat will understandably shock many people as the Speaker has always been thought to be a reluctant supporter of the President’s dream to rule for an eternity.
