The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has embarked on Phase II of its membership register update an exercise crucial for all party members. The display and verification process, launched nationwide on January 29, 2025, will run until February 1, 2025. This exercise ensures that every registered member has accurate details in the system, while also allowing new members to register. It is a critical step in guaranteeing a transparent and credible internal party electoral process.
One of the primary reasons to verify your details in the NRM register is to secure your participation in the party’s structure and primary elections. Members must cross-check their details with village registrars to avoid missing out on voting. Since the party is digitizing its 18-million-plus membership records, any errors in the system could lead to disenfranchisement.
A well-maintained and updated register is fundamental to strengthening the party from the grassroots. With an accurate membership database, the NRM can conduct fair and credible primary elections, reinforcing its internal democracy and credibility.
The digitized register also includes individuals aged 16 and 17, who are eligible to register as party members. This inclusion ensures that the party accommodates young supporters, nurturing a future generation of leaders and active participants in Uganda’s political landscape. Young members must verify their details to confirm their eligibility in the party’s database.
Errors in the register such as misspelled names, incorrect identification numbers, or missing records could create challenges for members during elections. By checking and correcting any discrepancies early, members prevent potential disputes and fraudulent activities that could undermine the credibility of the process. To ensure inclusion in the upcoming elections, it is essential to verify your details and ensure that all your information is correctly captured before the electoral process begins.
The party leadership has demonstrated a commitment to ensuring a seamless and transparent registration process. This proactive approach guarantees that no eligible member is left out of the party’s activities and decision-making processes.
Verifying your details in the NRM register is not just a formality but a necessary step in ensuring your participation in the party’s future. With elections and key party activities on the horizon, every member must take responsibility and confirm their details with their respective village registrars. Doing so guarantees a transparent, fair, and credible electoral process, ultimately strengthening the NRM’s democratic structures.
Don’t wait until it’s too late cross-check your details today and secure your place in shaping the future of the party and the nation.
