NRM’s Faridah Nambi Launches Fierce Battle for Kawempe North, Vows to Uproot Poverty & Opposition

The race for the Kawempe North parliamentary seat has today Saturday, officially begun, with ten candidates in the running. Among them is the NRM flag bearer, Faridah Nambi Kigongo, who wasted no time hitting the campaign trail, moving door to door in Kikaaya ward to rally support.

On her first day, Nambi visited Kisota, Kanisa, Dungu, Kikaaya A and B, and Kikulu zones, engaging with residents and sharing her plans. She assured voters that while she will implement the NRM manifesto, she also intends to tackle local issues, especially the burden of high Ground and Property taxes.

“These high taxes have pushed many hardworking people out of business,” Nambi noted. “I will push for a review by engaging the City Authority and Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) to ensure fairer rates.”

She also announced a plan to establish a Presidential Youth Skilling Hub in Kawempe North, in partnership with State House. The centre will equip young people with hands-on skills in mechanics, art and craft, weaving, and hairdressing, among others.

“We are already looking for space to set up this centre, even before the campaign ends, because this is an urgent issue,” she said.

Nambi urged voters to reject the opposition, saying they lack a clear plan for development.

“Why vote for someone who only resists government programs like the Parish Development Model and Emyooga? These programs are meant to help all Ugandans, regardless of their political beliefs,” she argued.

The NRM Director of Mobilization, Hon. Rosemary Seninde, echoed Nambi’s message, saying the ruling party is determined to win.

“We are committed to development. We want to build more trenches to prevent floods, secure more funding for poverty alleviation, and improve the roads in Kawempe North,” Seninde explained.

Nambi and her team will continue their campaign tomorrow, reaching out to voters in Kyebando ward.

As the saying goes, a farmer who wants a good harvest must prepare the land well, and Nambi is leaving no stone unturned in her bid to win the seat. (For comments on this story, get back to us on 0705579994 [WhatsApp line], 0779411734 & 041 4674611 or email us at mulengeranews@gmail.com).
