The Deputy NRM Chief Whip Hon Solomon Silwanyi has disclosed that he only learnt from social media that Senyonga Muyanja Jackson was dropped as the chairperson Buganda Parliamentary Caucus. Silwanyi revealed that he had seen Muyanja in his office signing attendance list on second day but later heard that he had left Kyankwanzi unnoticed after he was dropped from the chairmanship of the caucus. Featuring on NBS’ Morning Breeze program today morning (Thursday) where he faced the wrath of Buyaga county MP Barnabas Tinkasiimire, who accused the NRM MPs of being dishonesty to the population, Silwanyi denied that his office as the deputy Chief Whip of the ruling party had prior information concerning the Buganda caucus election that voted out Hon Muyanja.

“For your information, my office didn’t have any knowledge behind the Buganda voting that ousted the chairperson. I even don’t know where it happened because it was their own that’s why I can’t tell whether it was done at Kyankwanzi or elsewhere in the field,” said Silwanyi. Silwanyi who was tasked by Buyaga county MP Barnabas Tinkasiimire to enlighten him on how caucus conduct elections so that he can understand whether Buganda caucus acted within the procedure, answered that he knows nothing about the constitution of Buganda Caucus, has never seen it and doesn’t know whether it exists, the reason he can’t be involved in their own affairs. “Don’t put me closer to whatever Baganda or MPs from Buganda did because I don’t know what their constitution says. If at all exists, I know nothing about it so I don’t want to be involved,” said Silwanyi. Silwanyi said this as Tinkasiimire blamed him for failure talk about poverty in Busoga which welcomes people right away from the Nile and concentrated on matters that don’t benefit Ugandans like replacing the Buganda Caucus chairperson and extension of Museveni’s rule. “Why did you have much interest in replacing Muyanja who is on record for opposing the lifting of presidential age limit and you don’t focus on poverty that welcomes people in Busoga? Tell me poverty in Busoga, endorsing Museveni’s sole candidature and services suffering organ failure, which one was important to discuss” Tinkasiimire tasked Silwanyi to explain. During the recent concluded retreat by NRM MPS at Kyankwanzi, the Buganda Parliamentary caucus voted out their chairperson Jackson Muyanja Senyonga (One of the 27 NRM MPs who opposed the constitution amendment to lift presidential age limit) and replaced him with Kabula county MP James Kakooza. A section of Buganda MPs has since expressed mixed reactions including threats that they will not accept Kakooza because he is being imposed on them by NRM. For comments, call or text 0752510225.
