NAKASEKE MP TELLS HOW M7 IS USING POVERTY TO KEEP HIMSELF IN POWER

By Simon Turibamwe

Poverty among Ugandans has been highlighted as one of the factors that has kept president Museveni in power for a long time. Mr. Lutamaguzi Semakula the MP Nakaseke constituency where the Museveni-led NRA war was launched in 1980s said this while featuring on the famous NBS Eagle program on Sunday afternoon. Lutamaguzi said that the country’s population has been made to accept to stay in total destitution hence becoming full time beggars which makes it easy for candidates with money to buy votes uninterrupted in the names of buying refreshments.  He stated that a bigger percentage of the population are poor to the extent that they will only drink a soda or packed water during parties and burial ceremonies. Lutamaguzi shocked the nation when he revealed that even the members of parliament will make sure to hang around President Museveni seeking no wisdom but begging him for money and beans to distribute to voters during elections, the reason he has kept on paying them to serve his individual interest. “What do you think from a voter whom you give a soda and kneels down to thank you? This means that during elections only Shs2000 will make a voter run mad for a candidate who gives out money without considering the manifesto,” said Lutamaguzi. He went on to say that the country is owned by few individuals who own strong businesses and will always fight hard to keep president Museveni in power for fear of losing their illegal attained wealth and properties in a regime change like it was the case in 1986.  “All the property you see in Kololo accommodating first class citizens had owners but they all escaped using emergency exits and new occupants came in. The new occupants now can’t accept losing or see former occupants claiming those properties back and the only option for them is to keep Museveni in power and leave other Ugandans impoverished,” said Lutamaguzi. Lutamaguzi further said that Uganda is no longer suffering from cancer like Kizza Besigye used to say but it’s now suffering from organ failure remaining with president Museveni as the only functioning organ. He also noted that apart from keeping Ugandans in hope with hand outs and making them organized beggars in the name of NAADS groups and SAACOs, the country has no more benefit from the NRM government. FDC’s Harold Kaija complimented Lutamaguzi adding that the wise Museveni has surrounded himself with young generals whom he owes nothing other than them owing him allegiance and is slowly eliminating the bush war comrades from the command because he knows what he owes them. Kaija revealed that MPs evinced their destitution when they accepted to bag millions of money in exchange for constitutional amendment to pave way for President Museveni’s come back in 2021.
