The joint investigations teams looking into circumstances under which Muyenga Security Guard Ken Ronald Obonga strangled IHK’s Dr. Catherine Agaba to death have established new shocking findings surrounding the crime.
This team comprises investigators from both Police and CMI. Police had originally interrogated Obonga who confessed sneaking into Agaba’s room from where he took her unawares and strangled her to death.
But on being interrogated afresh by the CMI team, Obonga contradicted himself by claiming he closely followed Agaba as she returned into the gate from outside the fence and grabbed her neck from behind and strangled her to near death. He further confessed that a few moments before Agaba finally breathed her last, he tore off her underwear and raped her.
That moments after doing this very weird sex act on her, Dr. Agaba agonizingly whispered “oh my Jesus” and finally breathed her last. Sources close to the CMI-led investigations say that Obonga revealed that he then tied the underwear around her neck (as if to choke her afresh) and that this was to confirm she was finally dead.
That Obonga revealed that as he prepared to drag away the now lifeless Agaba, someone hooted from outside. It turns out this was someone who had come to briefly pick something from the very large enclosed residence (not necessarily Agaba’s apartment).
After that brief interruption (with the hooting person gone), Obonga returned to where he had abandoned Agaba’s now lifeless body and dragged it to the septic tank where he dumped it.
But the CMI sources say there are many other lines of investigations that remain open including the possibility that Obonga could have worked with some other people to orchestrate this criminal enterprise.
There are claims that Dr. Agaba, who Obonga says annoyed him by often complaining and reporting to the landlord about his work-related negligence, had also developed extreme disagreements with one of the people managing the same residential property on behalf of Hajji Ahmed Kiwanuka the owner.
Besides insisting on obtaining a comprehensive report of Dr. Agaba’s telephone printouts to corroborate Obonga’s claims that she frequently rung the landlord to report his work-related negligence, CMI investigators have also stuck to plans to revisit Obonga’s native village in Lango to interact with residents to discover more about his personality and past record.
Meanwhile slain Dr. Agaba’s medical profession colleagues like Dr. Okwaro Obuku, Prof Sarah Kiguli and Dr. Catherine Ndekera Odenyo have demanded that Agaba’s boyfriend Dr. Mohammed Hassan, who was previously arrested to aid investigations, should be unconditionally released since Obonga has stepped forward and owned up the murder as his sole responsibility.
The very horrendous act of sexually forcing himself on Dr. Agaba in her dying moments has prompted friends and family members to begin reflecting on whether, as a security guard, Obong hadn’t developed prolonged crush on the deceased who (going by her photos) was by all measure a very gorgeous young woman.
True to their incorruptible character, investigators from the military are determined to leave no stone unturned. (For feedback, reach us on mulengera2040@gmail.com).
