Weak responses by the opposition politicians towards the ruling NRM fellows in Uganda has been cited as one of the tools the NRM builds its strength to suppress them. This revelation was made by Tamale Mirundi when he featured on super FM this morning where he dotted a lot of blame on opposition figures and members of the parliament for surrendering powers to the NRM. Mirundi said that whenever the NRM talks of something and gets a negative response from the opposition, they score a sure win because they automatically know it has a negative impact for the Opposition which is not ready to capture power. Referring to the recent amendment of the constitution that scraped the presidential age limit that left Betty Namboze with permanent disability after her spinal was broken by commandos, Mirundi said that had the opposition welcomed it on day one and then added that it should be implemented after 15 years it was not going to succeed but because of their uncalled for banging and disorder in parliament in demonstration is what made the bill successful.

“If you encounter an animal unusual to you the first thing you do is to check its strength not by jumping on it but scaring it as you think of the next option and this is what NRM is doing to the opposition,” said Mirundi. He added that: “When they hear NRM going to Kyankwanzi they start guessing what is to be discussed there and end up contributing on the agenda because they are disclosing their fear and weakness before the opponent.” Mirundi revealed that the reason majority NRM MPs chose to work in favor of Museveni against own will is because they know their future without Museveni will be a miserable one. He said that the NRM MPs will continue to use all means to keep Museveni in power because they have it in mind that when they lose on their side and he wins they will get juicy jobs in the government. “Even if you ask them to resign from parliament for Museveni to continue they are ready to do the sacrifice because they exist where Museveni exists,” Mirundi said.
