President Museveni on Friday evening addressed a wealth creation rally at Kamuli Youth Center where young people declared him their ‘generational’ President and urged him to seek reelection in 2026, prompting him to tell them that he would follow whatever CEC, NEC and National Conference of the ruling party will decide.
At the same event, the Kamuli NRM youth chairman told Museveni about a group of Busoga MPs who move around among delegates decampaigning 2nd national vice chairperson Rebecca Kadaga while claiming that the President isn’t interested in her anymore. Like Museveni, Kadaga has held her NRM CEC position since the party’s founding in 2005.
The youth demanded that Museveni clears air on Kadaga’s CEC position and also proceeds to shield her along with Moses Kigongo against any competition regarding their respective CEC positions.
In his speech, Museveni denied having any problem with or vendetta against Kadaga who he referred to as his good sister. Museveni said if he had a problem with Kadaga, he would reach out and declare it to her privately or express himself in Cabinet, CEC or any other meeting where they have a shared membership.
He implored NRM people to disregard peddlers of such fake news and instead spend time doing more useful work because for him, he will never have anything against his sister Rebecca Kadaga.
He implied that the day that ever becomes the case, he will use his mouth to speak for himself as opposed to fighting her through proxies. He made it clear that he is a fighter who can’t fear to personally express reservations about Rebecca Kadaga or any other leader in case he had any.
Kadaga has lately become actively engaged trying to reach out to NRM influencers following the declaration by her successor Speaker Anita Among (the money bags) that she will be vying for the same position later this year.
