Maj General Proscovia Nalweyiso, who carries the undisputed honor of being Uganda’s highest ranking female army officer not only in UPDF but since independence, has once again fallen in things. The latest information reaching our desk from credible State House sources shows that a very appreciative President Museveni (the CiC) recently gave the grey-haired Afande from Mukono Ntawo additional responsibility. And this has to do with being his contact person on the special CMI and ISO teams that are investigating the extent and depth of criminal infiltration of the Uganda Police Force of the pre-Okoth Ochora days. The big man is confirmed to recently have asked ISO DG Frank Kaka and CMI’s Brig Abel Kandibo not to bother the already very busy PPS Molly Kamukama but reach him through Gen Nalweyiso each time there are urgent things they need to share with him or seek his opinion and guidance about. “Please don’t bother the PPS because she is already busy with many other things. Whenever there is something you urgently want to pass on to me, just contact Major General Nalweyiso. She will be the one handling and dealing with you directly on my behalf,” Museveni was quoted as instructing the ISO and CMI teams that had just updated him on the latest on the Movit tycoon investigations. Coincidentally the very same teams are also investigating ex-IGP Gen Kale Kayihura as regards his involvement in criminality along with dozens of his former influential aides in the Uganda Police Force. This additional clout simply means Gen Nalweyiso will be playing pivotal roles in ensuring the Kayihura/Movit and other criminal investigations are properly handled while keeping the President regularly updated.
