Kampala lord mayor Elias Lukwago, has lashed at DP President General Nobert Mao over the matter he is responding to his critics. Lukwago said that he is shocked by Mao’s behavior and how he is getting used to his abusive language. Lukwago, while featuring at NBS television’s famous Morning Breeze program, said that Mao’s statements that Northerners are not voting machines are regrettable and uncalled for. “How can a promoter of united forces stand and say that Northerners are not voting machines? What did he mean? He meant nothing other than being tribal sentiment,” Lukwago said. He said that he finds it disturbing to hear such a statement from Mao because it has a hard interpretation. Recently, Mao was quoted by the media saying that Northerners have been voting for other tribes for a long time and that it’s time for them not only to be used to vote but also to be voted. Mao said this while responding to calls by People Power promoters to step down for Bobi Wine to contest for Presidency. Mao was further prompted by Butambala County MP Kivumbi Muwanga who said that Mao is being planted and sponsored by NRM’s Museveni to contest for presidency in an election he will not win but with intentions to spoil ground and Bobi Wines support. Lukwago who is haunted by Mao’s referring to him as watermelon, said that Mao who is still referring to those who are not in the same line with him as meal card politicians, is not a serious candidate and it’s the reason he talks carelessly. “Instead of Mao explaining for his critics to understand, he has only resorted to abusing people and speaking words that are not expected from a leader and there is no serious candidate who can behave the way Mao behaves,” Lukwago said. He further said that Mao’s candidature is only schemed but not planned and for those who are able to interpret have interpreted it already. “Mao is not serious, his candidature is not planned but schemed if you people can differentiate the two and I think that’s why he behaves the way he wants,” said Lukwago.

Lukwago said that he has failed to understand Mao who is his boss at the DP headquarters, for his continual talk that the opposition is not prepared to capture power. Lukwago adds that it’s like as if Mao is speaking for the sole enemy of the opposition whom they are combining efforts to cause his fall. Lukwago said this while being tasked to tell what Bobi’s endagamuntu campaign, Besigye’s threats to mobilize masses to stop Museveni from appearing on the ballot and Mao’s presidential candidature mean for the 2021 general elections. Lukwago stated that: “All these forces are being right because when Bobi Wine is mobilizing masses to participate in voting so that Museveni can be defeated and Besigye is fighting Museveni whose candidature is deputed because of the appeal we have in court against his age it means we are aiming in one direction. But I’m only surprised by Mao’s actions to say that the opposition is not ready to capture power. There he sounds like he is one of the enemies we are fighting.” Appearing on the same program, the Deputy Government Spokesperson Col. Shaban Bantariza, said that Museveni has taken the advantage of the confusion in opposition to rule them uninterrupted. Bantariza added that for the entire life he has existed, it’s his first time to sympathize with the opposition because its troubled by self-destruction. For comments, call or text us on 0752510225.
