Owned by former Minister and long-serving Dokolo County MP Felix Okot Ogong and his dear wife Teddy Okot, Lira City- based Voice of Lango FM has been ranked Lango sub region’s most liked and trusted radio station and source of news and information by the listening public.
In a survey conducted by the British Broadcasting Corporation’s project called “BBC Media Action,” it emerged that 19% of people in the sub region (that is home to many stations) consider VoL their best in everything followed by Unity and Divine FM at 14% and 10% respectively.
The detailed and comprehensive BBC survey report is titled “Uganda Media Landscape Report February 2024.” BBC being one of the world’s most respected and credible media house globally, the latest report undisputedly confirms that Voice of Lango is the most popular radio station in the Mid-North sub region of Uganda which basically implies Lango sub region.
The news has understandably created plenty of euphoria and excited management and the listening public alike with VoL Station Manager Elvis Ajwika welcoming the findings as mere confirmation of what was already a public secret throughout Lango namely that Hon Okot Ogong’s radio is simply the most preferred source of credible and reliable news and entertainment in the whole of Lango.
Ajwika says they have always been deliberate: working towards ensuring they remain number one at all times, a fact the BBC latest report has credibly corroborated. He adds that this is a milestone that has reenergized them to work even harder; serving their audiences better than ever before.
He declared: “We thank our directors for the strategic leadership and support. We believe that VoL will continue growing to even higher heights and towards becoming the best radio station in Northern and Eastern Uganda.” While thanking the audiences for continuing to perceive them as credible and reliable, Ajwika said that continuing to provide accurate, well-sourced and balanced information is the only way they can reciprocate this well-demonstrated public support and goodwill.
