Countrymen and Countrywomen, greetings to all of you. And on a special note, greetings to you all my beloved people of Kiruhura district I represent as District Woman MP.
As one of the original survivors of the 1986-1980 NRA bush war commanded by Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa, I take this opportunity to thank God for the gift of wisdom, vision and valour He gave to the 41 men that attacked Kabamba Barracks on 6th Feb 1986. Despite of other people discerning it as unconditional, some of us take it as the beginning of Uganda’s liberation.
Therefore , it’s notable to commemorate it with a high degree of beatitude and satisfaction and, I thank UPDF for recognizing it with a name Tarehe Sita (T6). First and foremost, Tarehe sita (T6) is a phrase symbolizing the 6th of Feb 1981 on UPDF and Ministry of Defence calendar. It’s a national day for marking the birth of the peoples’ Army .
Initially, the Army was founded as the Popular Resistance Army (PRA), later metamorphosing into the National Resistance Army/Movement (NRA/M). By God’s grace, NRA/M was affirmed as Uganda Peoples’ Defence Force (UPDF) in the constitution of Republic of Uganda in 1995.
6th Feb 2025, the nation commemorates the 44th Anniversary since the twenty seven (27) armed and fourteen unarmed patriots launched and attack on Kabamba military Barracks heralding a new era of resistance by the population against injustice, oppression and persecution government.
To narrow down the story, the Kabamba attack was a clarion call and beginning of the tested protracted peoples’ war. A war fought on the basis of a popular cause irrespective of the unfavorable balance of power in terms of the means to wage war.
The regime having an advantage of logistics and arms, while the peoples’ force is superior in terms of cause, the will to resist and struggle, and above all a clear – headed leadership. Thank you Mzee for taking charge of commanding Ugandans throughout the liberation war.
Initially before NRA captured power, security agencies individuals and civilians in Uganda were bitter enemies that whenever a civilian noticed a soldier coming to his home, swiftly one would escape for safety, leaving behind a helpless wife and children.
Before the head of the family was called back that the soldiers have left, he would even think of returning. In the meantime, the soldiers would embark on dirty acts like raping of women, defiling young girls and stealing house properties.
Honestly, today we thank God and President Museveni Yoweri Kaguta that security officers faithfully and humbly enjoy same rights . We thank our men and women in uniform for defending and protecting our country from any threat and enemies with intention of destabilizing our beautiful country Uganda that is full of peace, unity and stability.
Above all, thank you UPDF for continuous protection you give to our President and Mama. God bless you UPDF.
As we celebrate the 44th Tarehe Sita Anniversary in Greater. Masaka Region, fellow Ugandans I call upon you to appreciate the government of Uganda and UPDF for organizing this annual event under the theme “Celebrating Pan-African Solidarity and the Peoples’ Sacrifice in the struggle for Freedom and Democracy for Social- economic Transformation.”
In a high degree hopes, Greater Masaka will benefit extremely from this year’s event since a lot of community teachings and giving back to community skills will be conducted.
As a woman leader at National level, let me thank Mzee , Mama Janet and entire government of NRM for fighting extensively to have woman emancipation. Remarkably, I thank Mama Janet for raising her voice high and high in fighting for girl child education.
Today, a girl child also shares the same table with boy child hence creating a clean room for merit competition in all government and private offices. Foristance, top offices are headed by women and among them include; the office of vice presidency, Parliamentary speaker , Judiciary offices, IGG, various ministries, Security offices, Executive Directors etc
Long Live Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni,
Long Live NRM. For God and My Country.
